Paço do Frevo is a museum of the City of Recife dedicated to the dissemination, research, training, safeguarding, and appreciation of the cultural universe of Frevo, an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Brazil (National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage – Iphan, 2007) and of Humanity (UNESCO, 2012).

Implemented and managed by idg, the Museum was inaugurated in 2014 and has since welcomed more than 1.2 million visitors, who have been delighted by its exhibitions, educational activities, artistic programming, and events designed to promote and protect this this genuinely Pernambuco cultural heritage. More than 41,000 students have passed through the century-old building located in the Bairro do Recife, the historic area of the state capital; 850 artistic attractions and 2,800 groups have taken part in guided visits.

For its significant work related to the safeguarding and appreciation of this cultural expression, this Frevo Safeguarding Reference Center, as officially recognized by Iphan in 2017, received the Darcy Ribeiro Awards (2015 and 2019), Funarte (2015), Ayrton de Almeida Carvalho (2016), and an honorable mention at the 12th Ibermuseus Education Award (2022).
