In this July, Paço do Frevo has prepared an extensive vacation program designed especially for children, reinforcing the museum as a vibrant cultural venue full of experiences. The month starts with "FrevAções," a schedule of artistic and educational activities that will be running daily until the end of July, involving dance, music, poetry, handicrafts, games, and storytelling. All activities will be conducted by the museum's educators and are accessible with the regular museum ticket, which costs R$ 10 for full price and R$ 5 for half price. On Tuesdays, admission is free.

Additionally, this month, there will be the "Ocupação Brincantes das Ladeiras" with the homonymous group that has been active for 14 years in Olinda. The occupation will bring together dance, music, heritage, and frevo experiences, with games involving warm-up exercises, rhythm, and pulse, as well as learning troça and agremiação anthems, using cords, balls, hula hoops, and frevo umbrellas, and also making costumes for the frevo dance. The event will have two groups for different age ranges: on the 4th, 5th, and 6th days for children aged 5 to 8 years, and on the 11th, 12th, and 13th days for kids aged 9 to 12 years. "Ocupação Brincantes das Ladeiras" will take place from 2 pm to 5 pm, and the fee is R$ 100. Registration can be made through this link on the Sympla platform.

Concluding the vacation at Paço do Frevo, on July 30th, there will be "Bloco do Neném," a creation by the singer and composer Mari Bigio, a Pernambuco artist with over 15 years of career. Born during the carnival cycle and dedicated to early childhood, the project invites young revelers and introduces them to our musical traditions, all with a lot of Frevo, of course. The event will be held at 4 pm at Praça do Frevo, on the third floor of Paço do Frevo. Access is available with the museum ticket: R$ 10 (full price) and R$ 5 (half price).

FREVAÇÕES

Brincando de Frevo: An interactive workshop for children to experience Frevo dance through popular games like "dead/alive," "freeze tag," and "1, 2, 3 potato."

Tuesdays and Saturdays | 3 pm to 4 pm Capacity: 15 children Age group: 3 to 12 years

Estandarte na palma da mão: A workshop to bring children closer to elements that compose and represent carnival groups, such as the "estandartes" (flags). Children will be invited to create their own troça flags, reflecting themes, symbols, and colors.

Tuesdays at 11 am and Sundays at 3 pm Capacity: 10 children All ages

Contando o frevo: An interdisciplinary experience where music is the final product of the activity. Children will choose the sounds to represent the instruments of the Frevo orchestras, such as surdo, pandeiro, and caixa, counting and singing the drawn musical notes. The process is recorded via WhatsApp, and the result is a Frevo rhythm session that can be played at different tempos.

Construindo fRRRevo: An activity to raise awareness about sustainability by transforming discarded materials into musical instruments.

Thursdays and Saturdays | 11 am Capacity: 15 children Age group: 6 to 12 years

Frevo no ar: Frevo is not only about the "sombrinha" (umbrella). This activity proposes creating a toy composed of a stick, satin ribbon, and other decorative materials to be experienced with Frevo movements.

Sundays at 11 am and Wednesdays at 3 pm Capacity: 10 children All ages

Contação de histórias: An activity to present Frevo using the collection "Mestres e Mestras do Frevo" (Masters and Mistresses of Frevo) from Paço do Frevo, which playfully narrates the biographies of four Frevo personalities (Egídio Bezerra, Zenaide Bezerra, Edite Gomes, and Maestro Clóvis Pereira).
